HUD setup guide

How to set up the Flopnado HUD

Pick your poker site, show Flopnado where that site saves its hand histories, then start the overlay. This guide shows the exact folder to pick for each site.

The steps at a glance

Open Flopnado and click HUD at the top of the main window. The HUD panel opens. Setting it up takes six steps, and each one is explained further down.

The HUD panel. The numbers match the steps below.
  1. Site: pick the poker site you play on.
  2. Folder: show Flopnado where that site saves its hand histories. See the folder for your site
  3. Hero: type your screen name.
  4. Hero seat: pick the seat you sit in.
  5. Import: load hands you've already played. This step is optional.
  6. Start overlay: turn the HUD on.

Pick your hand history folder

Every poker site saves a hand history file as you play. Flopnado reads these files to build its stats, so it needs to know which folder they're in.

Most of these folders are inside AppData, which Windows hides. Pasting the path is the easiest way in. %LOCALAPPDATA% is a shortcut Windows understands. It takes you to your own AppData\Local folder, whatever your Windows user name is.

Pick your site to see its folder. These are the Windows folders.

When the folder is right, the bar at the bottom of the HUD panel says Watching, followed by your folder. Flopnado remembers the folder for each site, so you only do this once.

Your name and your seat

Hero: your screen name

Type your screen name exactly as it shows at the tables. Names from your hand histories come up as suggestions while you type. Flopnado remembers your name for next time.

The vs me view (the reverse HUD) uses your name. It only counts hands Flopnado reads while your name is filled in. So type it in before you import hands or start playing.

Hero seat: where you sit

Pick the seat number where you sit at the table. The pictures show how Flopnado numbers the seats.

Flopnado puts your own stat box at that seat and turns the other boxes round with it, so each box sits next to the right player. The seat only moves the boxes. It doesn't change any of the numbers.

Bring in hands you've already played

This step is optional. Click Import to read every hand already in your folder. The HUD then starts with stats on players you've played before.

Import only works while the overlay is off. A bar shows how far it has got. Hands Flopnado already has are skipped, so importing twice does no harm.

Start the overlay

Click Start overlay. Flopnado finds your open tables by itself, and works out from the hand history whether each one is 6-max or 9-max. A table's stat boxes appear once its next hand is played.

The HUD on a 6-max PokerStars table. Click the + at the end of a line to open that player's full stats.

Moving the boxes

Drag a box to move it. While the button on the HUD panel says Locked, dragging moves all the boxes on that table together. Click it to switch to Unlocked, and each box moves on its own.

The boxes stay on their seats if you move or resize the table window.

If every box is one seat out, click Rotate left or Rotate right until each one sits next to the right player.

When it all looks right, click Save under Layout and give it a name. Next time, pick it from the Layout list. It keeps your name and seat too.

Changing the look

Format on the HUD panel switches between a line and a box. Size makes everything bigger or smaller. To turn the HUD off, click Stop overlay.

Three ways to view stats

The Stats button on the HUD panel changes the view. Each click moves to the next one.

  • Stats: all shows every hand you have on each player, added up. This is the normal view, and it's free.
  • Stats: position shows only the hands each player played from the seat they're in now. When they move round the table, the numbers change with them.
  • Stats: vs me is the reverse HUD. Next to each opponent, it shows your own stats from the hands you played with that player. It needs your Hero name.

Position and vs me come with the paid licence, and they're included in the 48-hour trial.

Choose your stats

Click HUD settings on the HUD panel. The settings window opens.

  1. At the top right, pick Line or Box. Line is one row of stats. Box puts rows of stats under the player's name.
  2. Drag a stat from the list on the left onto the table line, or into the popup.
  3. Drag the chips on the line to change the order. Click the × on a chip to take it off.
  4. Click a stat's dot to change its colour.
  5. Click Apply when you're done.

Not sure what a stat means? Every stat explained

Line style. The numbers match the steps above. The previews show how the line and the popup will look.
Box style. Click + Add row for another row of stats.

If the HUD shows nothing

  • Look at the bar at the bottom of the HUD panel. It should say Watching, followed by your folder. If it doesn't, click Folder and pick the folder again.
  • Check that Site matches the site you're playing on, and that you picked the folder this guide shows for it.
  • If Import says No files found, there are no hand history files in that folder. It's most likely the wrong one.
  • If Import says the overlay is on, click Stop overlay, import, then start it again.
  • Still stuck? Email flopnado@protonmail.com.
